Rescue costs are verified costs of searching for an insured party and his or her transport from off-road terrain<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">a) to the next accessible road or <br>b) to the hospital closest to the site of the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!-- Inaccessible terrain -->\n<aside style=\"margin:1.25rem 0 1.75rem;padding:1rem 1.15rem 1.1rem;background:#f4f7f8;border-left:4px solid #2f6f7e;border-radius:0 6px 6px 0;color:#2c3338;font-size:0.95em;line-height:1.55;box-shadow:inset 0 0 0 1px rgba(47,111,126,.08);\" role=\"note\" aria-label=\"Additional information on inaccessible terrain\">\n  <p style=\"margin:0;\">Inaccessible terrain is defined in the insurance conditions as roadless natural land (e.g. mountain, rocky, forest or otherwise hard-to-access terrain, including gorges, canyons and mountain streams and rivers) from which the insured person \u2014 injured or uninjured \u2014 must be extricated and transported to the nearest passable road or to the nearest hospital. What matters is not the activity being undertaken or the location in a mountain area, but the character of the terrain, an elevation of up to 6,000&nbsp;m&nbsp;a.s.l., and the necessity of rescue from it.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-costs-for-transport-and-transfer-within-one-s-country-of-main-place-of-residence\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Costs for transport and transfer within one\u2019s country of main place of residence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a rescue covered by insurance, the costs of transfers of injured\/ill persons and transfer costs for deceased persons within the same country as the insured party\u2019s main place of residence shall be covered without limitation on costs. Transfer costs are costs of transport from one hospital to a hospital near the main place of residence or to the main place of residence itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Transport costs are the costs of transporting a deceased party to his or her last main place of residence. Transport must be organised by the contract organisation stated on the Alpenverein membership card. If this is not the case, max. EUR 750 shall be compensated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Europ Assistance<\/strong>, tel: +43\/1\/253 3798, fax +43\/1\/313 89 1304, email: aws@alpenverein.at<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-031f553b gb-headline-text\"><br>Exclusions relating to rescue costs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The insurance protection does not extend to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accidents\/illnesses as part of work-related or other professional activities and accidents by members ofrescue organisations, which occur as part of organised rescue deployments and training on behalf ofthe rescue organisation. However, accidents during paid work by members of the \u00d6sterreichischer Bergf\u00fchrer Verband as qualified mountain and ski guides, and as officially approved and qualified hiking guides are insured.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accidents when using motor vehicles, however motor vehicle accidents directly and indirectly on the way to and from meetings and events of the \u00d6sterreichische Alpenverein and on the way to and from statutory (including private) association activities (hikes, snowshoe hikes, mountaineering, climbing, via ferrata, skiing, ski touring, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, white water canoeing, canyoning and mountain biking\/trekking tours as well as when using cable cars and lifts) are insured.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accidents during participation in provincial, national or international competitions in Nordic and Alpine skiing, snowboarding and freestyling, freeriding, bob, ski-bob, skeleton or luge and when training for such events;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accidents involving insured persons as pilots (including Sports pilots, Operators of aviated devices, such as e.g. paragliders), where they require a permit for this under Austrian law, and as other crew members of aircraft and when using spacecraft or as a drone passenger;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dives featuring exceptional risk (dives of 40 m or more, ice diving, diving expeditions);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in mountain bike competitions (downhill, four cross, dirt jump), including the official training and qualification runs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Record attempts relating to speed, diving and aeronautics;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accidents\/illnesses on trips with planned ascents of mountains with summits over 6,000 m in height and travel to the Arctic (destinations north of he Arctic Circle), Antarctic (destinations south of the Antarctic Circle) and Greenland. *<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in expeditions \u2013 an expedition is defined as a trip to rarely-visited areas lacking permanent infrastructure (e.g. huts) that lasts for several days or weeks and is undertaken for exploration or research purposes to a certain extent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<aside style=\"margin:1.25rem 0 1.75rem;padding:1rem 1.15rem 1.1rem;background:#f4f7f8;border-left:4px solid #2f6f7e;border-radius:0 6px 6px 0;color:#2c3338;font-size:0.95em;line-height:1.55;box-shadow:inset 0 0 0 1px rgba(47,111,126,.08);\" role=\"note\" aria-label=\"Additional information on diving\">\n  <p style=\"margin:0 0 .85rem;\">\n    <strong style=\"color:#1f4f5a;\">Recreational diving: what is generally covered<\/strong><br>\n    <strong>Treatment \/ hospitalization:<\/strong>\n    in the event of an accident or sudden health complication during a standard recreational dive abroad, treatment and return transport may be covered.\n    Example: decompression-related complications after a standard recreational dive (&lt; 40 m) followed by medical treatment abroad.\n  <\/p>\n\n  <p style=\"margin:0 0 .85rem;\">\n    Rescue coverage for diving applies provided that the rescue is from inaccessible terrain, that is, from roadless land\n    (mountains, rocks, gorges, etc.) from which rescuers must carry you out to a road or to a hospital.\n    Whether a specific case is covered does not depend on the fact that you were diving, but on where and how you need to be rescued.\n  <\/p>\n\n  <p style=\"margin:0 0 .85rem;\">\n    <strong style=\"color:#1f4f5a;\">When diving fits the logic of rescue cover:<\/strong><br>\n    This is the case when diving is connected with inaccessible terrain, for example when you dive in a mountain gorge, canyon or another hard-to-access place\n    that can only be reached via roadless land, and the rescue means extraction from that terrain.\n    In such a case, this is a typical rescue from inaccessible terrain, which is what the insurance is designed to cover.\n  <\/p>\n\n  <p style=\"margin:0 0 .85rem;\">\n    <strong style=\"color:#1f4f5a;\">Treatment \/ repatriation abroad:<\/strong><br>\n    This applies to leisure-time accidents during the first 8 weeks of travel abroad.\n    Recreational diving up to 40&nbsp;m is generally not listed among the exclusions, so if the other conditions are met, treatment or repatriation is covered.\n  <\/p>\n\n  <p style=\"margin:0 0 .85rem;\">\n    <strong style=\"color:#1f4f5a;\">Diving exclusions:<\/strong><br>\n    Cover does not apply in particular to dives from 40&nbsp;m, ice diving, and diving expeditions.\n  <\/p>\n\n  <p style=\"margin:0;\">\n    <strong style=\"color:#1f4f5a;\">Summary:<\/strong><br>\n    Standard recreational dive &lt; 40 m: in the event of an accident abroad, treatment\/repatriation may be covered.<br>\n    Dive from 40 m, ice diving, or expedition: not covered.<br>\n    Rescue on open water: rescue costs are not automatic; the specific rescue circumstances are decisive.\n  <\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Clarification:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In accordance with the exceptions stated above, all mountaineering activities and trips that are undertaken with the aim of climbing a mountain featuring a summit height below 6,000 m and that do not visitthe stated Arctic or Antarctic regions or Greenland are nevertheless insured even if these are designated as expeditions by an organiser. However, journeys with any kind of commercial background (professional activity) are exclused from the insurance coverfor the participant. Trips featuring planned ascents of mountains with a summit height above 6,000 m or trips to the stated Arctic or Antarctic regions or Greenland are classed as expeditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside style=\"margin:1.25rem 0 1.75rem;padding:1rem 1.15rem 1.1rem;background:#f4f7f8;border-left:4px solid #2f6f7e;border-radius:0 6px 6px 0;color:#2c3338;font-size:0.95em;line-height:1.55;box-shadow:inset 0 0 0 1px rgba(47,111,126,.08);\" role=\"note\" aria-label=\"Note on Scandinavia\">\n  <p style=\"margin:0;\"><strong style=\"color:#1f4f5a;\">Note on Scandinavia<\/strong> (areas north of the Arctic Circle, e.g. Troms\u00f8): The insurance is valid on the mainland of Norway, Finland and Sweden, and also includes islands belonging to these countries that are connected to the mainland by bridges and are accessible by car year-round.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For ascents of mountains with a summit height above 6,000 m, a separate insurance is offered.
