Membership and Insurance Valid Until January 31, 2027

From the date of payment, your Alpenverein membership and insurance are valid until January 31, 2027. January 2027 is a transitional month. It’s transitional because if you haven’t paid your membership fee for 2027 yet in January 2027 and you have an insured event, this event will be covered if you additionally pay the fee for 2027 within this transitional period, i.e., by January 31, 2027.

Alpenverein covers you worldwide for 8 weeks from your departure from Slovakia

If your address is in Slovakia, the insurance validity for rescue and search operations during leisure activities also applies within Slovakia (including interventions by the Mountain Rescue Service in the mountains and helicopter rescue). Alpenverein insurance covers you worldwide for 8 weeks from your departure from Slovakia. Worldwide coverage, in addition to rescue and search operations, also covers medical expenses.

Can I also Provide a Foreign Address?

When registering, it is most advisable to provide the address of residence in the country where you spend most of the year and your free time. It does not matter what your permanent residence is listed as in your ID card. Alpenverein requires a ‘main residence’ address, which can be any address, even abroad.

What to watch out for if you have a main address abroad?

Coverage for rescue and search operations is valid year-round and worldwide, including the country of main residence. Insurance coverage for medical treatment and care is valid year-round and worldwide outside the country of main residence for the first 56 days (8 weeks) from departure, and this limit resets upon return. Medical expenses in the country of main residence are therefore not covered; it is assumed that you cover them voluntarily. If you provide a main residence address abroad during registration, make sure you have valid health insurance in that country.
