From 1 January 2026, Georgia will introduce mandatory health and accident insurance for all foreign tourists entering the country. This measure also applies to hikers, ski tourers, and mountaineers who travel to Georgia to explore its unique mountain regions.
Under the new regulations, the insurance must cover the entire duration of the stay in Georgia, with a minimum coverage amount of 30,000 Georgian Lari (approximately EUR 9,700).
Tourists are required to present a valid insurance policy upon entry into the country, either in English or Georgian, in paper or electronic form.
